Oh, this back pain is killing me…
Have you ever felt the small strain in your muscle hurdling your success?
Being a mom and working-from-home full time, I stretched myself and got everything done.
By the end of the day, I just hated everything and everyone. I felt everything was up against me. I will never be able to achieve my goals in life.
A piece of advice… Don’t ever go to bed upset… especially when you are upset with yourself.
Instead, reach out for your diary or any piece of paper and spill everything. It doesn’t have to make sense. As long as you can understand your own handwriting, all is cool.
When the things that hurt you are on a piece of paper you can see them as a third person. You have a different perspective on things and you will be surprised to see how many of these line items were not worth sleeping with.
Reading these feelings back to yourself will clear your thoughts and will help you be a better judge of your feelings.
Daily journaling or diary keeping might not be your thing but having at your bedside and brain dumping every once in a while can prove beneficial for a restful night.
This habit is not only helpful when you are anxious or stressed but has proven benefits when you are setting goals and want to track them.
If you are working towards a goal, every night pick that notebook and write what you did today to achieve that goal. Even if you did not do anything productive, write down those things that kept you from achieving them. This habit will help you identify habits that might be keeping you from moving forward.
Yes, for me that night I slept well knowing that my hatred towards everything was meaningless. I went to bed realising I was loved and much needed. Even though I went to bed with the muscle strain I knew it does not define me and who I was and want to be. After reading back to myself what I wrote made me separate the two feelings- physical and emotional.
If you are still speculating on starting to journal, here are a couple of articles sharing a variety of benefits you might be missing on.
