Is it finally time to call Joshua Feuerstein out for his hypocrisy?
Authors Update: It seems Josh has, in a now deleted email, asked his followers to threaten Planned Parenthood workers.
“‘I say, tonight, we punish Planned Parenthood. I think it’s time that abortion doctors should have to run and hide and be afraid for their life.” When does the hypocrisy end?
Dear Josh,
Can I call you Josh? Do you prefer Joshua for the obvious biblical reference? I think we need to have a man to man talk. I am, of course, operating under the assumption that you are a man. In these troubled times one can never tell without close inspection. I believe it’s possible you’ve become surprised by your fame and are at a loss for finding ways to maintain it. I hope this just grew too fast for you and now you’ve decided you need to nurture this manufactured personality, thereby creating new and ever more ridiculous controversy.
Joshua, there is no war on Christianity in the United States. What you have mistaken for a war is actually just the disenfranchised pushing back against a society that has treated them as second class for decades. The people pushing back? They are as diverse as the society we now find ourselves in: Muslim, Sikh, Jewish, Christian, Atheist, Humanist, Satanist and Pagan. Everyone working together to ensure that we all are treated equally in the eyes of the law. The war you speak of is just the Christian majority losing its stranglehold.
I think the first time I heard of you was that astoundingly irrational “prove God doesn’t exist” challenge you put out there. It certainly gained you notoriety and followers. Even some of my friends were openly supporting you. Of course, the reality is that the burden of proof falls on you to prove he does, not on those who believe he does not. Obviously, that didn’t matter to the folks who believe that Christians are being persecuted in this country. I can forgive you that one as you hadn’t ventured to far into the murky waters of lunacy where you now choose to float.

You proclaim a need for money to buy a new very expensive camera so that you may provide better quality content. Yet, somehow, all of your videos are still shot on a cell phone?

I would like to talk to you about a few other things though. Good men don’t take advantage of the naivete of their followers. By the way, I’m using the word “followers” purposely. Jesus had followers too, and you are nothing like his character in the Bible. Nothing. He was tolerant, forgiving and charitable. You proclaim a need for money to buy a new very expensive camera so that you may provide better quality content. Yet, somehow, all of your videos are still shot on a cell phone? Where did the money go sir? It’s been reported by many outlets that you’ve not even purchased the camera. Saving up for a private jet maybe?
Right now you’re probably thinking this letter is the result of the reprehensible campaign you launched against Starbucks. You do know where assuming will get you right? Most sane people realized this was manufactured bullshit long before the media caught on. Learning that you were the originator not only wasn’t a surprise but made perfect sense. There is no war on Christmas, or Xmas or “that holiday I now can’t stand because I’ve spent 20 years working retail”. Have you ever seen how “Good Christians” behave around others during the holidays? There is very little of the true meaning of Christmas left.
Nay sir, this letter is the result of a little research I did on you. Up until now, I’d simply chosen to ignore you. I figured those followers you had left were ignorant and fearful and you were pandering to the their basest emotions. I was content to let it go. Then I stumbled upon your “Cancel Your Suicide” page. I can’t really let that go.

Here is my challenge to you sir…
|
You’ve have no understanding of what it means to be suicidal or depressed, apparently no professional training in dealing with suicidal people and a complete lack of empathy for those that are. I’m not sure how you come up with your total number of suicides stopped, but I’m pretty sure it’s complete and utter bunk. You confuse religious idolatry with real and proven methods for helping people, and that makes me angry. Truth be told, people like you infuriate me. You actively engage in hurting other people.
Here is my challenge to you sir: Prove to me and the rest of the world that you are a good, God fearing man. Open up the books to your various charities. Show us where every cent of the donations and gifts you’ve received have gone. Illustrate for us the good you do in a way that doesn’t pander to your base and build you up as a personality. Prove to us all that you are more than a Youtube star, that you are human being of substance who truly believes he is here to do good work. After all, that Jesus guy you follow gave alms to the poor, worked to heal the sick and accepted all people regardless of race, gender or sexuality.
Joshua, I implore you: Be what you claim to be and show us the true measure of your beliefs,

Joshua… when you speak these types of words: “After all, that Jesus guy you follow gave alms to the poor, worked to heal the sick and accepted all people regardless of race, gender or sexuality” PLAINLY and CLEARLY you are most certainly not of our Lord Jesus Christ, ESPECIALLY, when referring to Him as: “….that Jesus guy….?” You’re not well, Joshua.
Becky,
I’m not Joshua, I’m Shawn, the author of the piece. Joshua is the hateful man it was written to. Nope, I’m no follower of Jesus. I’ve not found convincing evidence of his existence, so I’m perfectly within the realm of my beliefs to say “That Jesus Guy.”. You’ve managed to miss the entire point of the piece I’m afraid.
I am a Christian and I have made it my mission to expose false preachers who prey on and defraud innocent people in accordance with scripture. The evidence against Josh for pulling frauds to make a profit is overwhelming. I won’t list all of them here, but one particularly glaring incident pertained to a t-shirt he was selling and indicated the majority of the proceeds would go to a particular charity. He named the charity and sold well over 400 shirts. Well guess what? This charity called him out and said they never heard of him and never got any… Read more »
The title is definitively wrong. Joshua is akin to the pharisees of old. Jesus would not like this guy’s behavior, but he would certainly love him in spite of his brokenness.
As a “follower” I believe there should be a war on Christmas…the commercialization of Christmas that is. There isn’t much Christ left in Christmas especially in the land of free, home of the brave, just put it on your credit card.
Tom, tread lightly. First, war is an over used term. So no, there is not a war on women. There is, however, a concerted effort to restrict the rights of women to levels last seen decades ago. I dislike the moniker but agree with the intent. The “War on Christmas and Christianity” however, simply does not exist. We, the other part of the country, simply want to be on equal footing. Since, according to our constitution, that’s what the law is supposed to guarantee.
You and I simply have a different perception of things. I don’t know if you have a faith based background or not, even those that do, are is different places in their journey. In so far as this guy you wrote about, I think i watched a few seconds of it before I moved on. He may very well have jumped on a band wagon and ran with it … I don’t know and honestly don’t care. On he other hand, what I’m gonna do is look it up and listen. Be back in a few. Okay I watched the… Read more »
