Obama’s Tuesday speech in South Africa was his first major address since leaving office, and it has received rave reviews from the Western media. Obama characterized modern politics as a struggle between idealistic egalitarians, such as Nelson Mandela (in whose honor the speech was given), and right-wing populists. Obama was generous toward Trump in that he never mentioned him once during the address. The speech earned Obama 52 percent negative opinions, and although that might seem like a defeat, remember that Twitter is notoriously hard on politicians. That split down the middle could swing in Obama’s favor with more visibility, but only time will tell if Barack will get tough on Donald. –Hugo Guzman
