This past weekend we went to Hot Wheels Monster Truck Glow Party.
Amazing fun and the kids, my son especially, absolutely loved it.

I’m going to take a wild guess here that this resonates with you..
You want to achieve or change something so you set yourself a goal.
You feel motivated and enthusiastic.
You make some progress.
Something happens that makes you really busy.
You lose momentum.
Struggle to get started again.
Start to feel like a failure.
Your back to where you were at the beginning.
Only this time you feel worse because you tried
and didn’t make progress.
Now you feel like you failed.
Am I right?
It’s perfectly natural!
Happens and happened to me plenty of times.
Only recently I shared I had missed 11 workouts in a row
The difference between me now and me of the past…
Present me made sure I didn’t miss a 12th one.
Past me would have given up and felt worse for even trying.
What helped shift that mindset for me was setting goals that actually meant something to me.
Not cookie cutter bullshit goals that are supposed to mean something just because its new years eve and I am supposed to come up with something.
But goals that are aligned with my
– Priorities
– Interests
– Health
– Values
Get to know yourself more and determine what’s important to you and why.
To help with this ask yourself the why question 5-7 times.
Sounds intense but it will help you get to the core of the real reason it is important to you.
Set goals that are
Specific
Measurable
Achievable
Relevant
Timebound
SMART objectives have been around since 1981 (no I didn’t know that off the top of my head).
A time where Reagan was sworn in as president of the US and the Yorkshire Ripper was arrested in England.
A lot has changed but one thing remains constant…
SMART goals are damn effective if used correctly.
People fall down for 4 main reasons
1. They don’t know why the goal was important to them.
2. They lose motivation (linked to point 1)
3. They don’t know how to truly define the goal
4. They don’t track and review progress.
Next week I will tell you my tips for point 4.
The kids are almost back at school and life goes back to some form of normalcy.
Now is the perfect time to jump back on the horse and rekindle your goals and ambitions.
Cheering you on,
Dan
