Weoften come across the frustrations some of the self-help users portray. In a fast-paced life, with an increasing number of reasons that can kill us, we seek to find solutions to improve our lifestyle. As we incorporate the changes, we desire the results to happen overnight, so that “life is touche” in a blink.
When I share my experiences and the outcomes of my self-improvement journey; I am sharing “my experiences”. Those which define me, my life, and aligns with my personality.
Similarly, the books and suggestions provided by a person ‘X’, are their experiences and defines their personality.
There is definitely a generalized point to ponder that applies to all of us unbiased. However, the ‘How’ and ‘When’ is solely dependent on ‘Who we are.’
For instance, we all know how to eat — the process starts with the food on our plate, our hands are used, and then it enters our mouth. Each of us chews our food a uniquely set number of times. Some of us chew longer than others.
Similarly, self-improvement techniques apply to who we are and somehow the steps applicable to one person certainly may require tweaking for the next.
…
Long story short, if we really want self-improvement to show a better-paced effect, try to ask the following questions:
- Who am I and how I differ from what I desire in my life?
- Why do I respond in a particular way to a circumstance that attracts me or bothers me?
- What are my current habits and routines?
- How fast do I grasp changes in my life?
- Who are the 5 closest people I hang out with?
- The change that I want to bring into my life, how will it affect me in the end?
- What are the three routes I can take in order to reach my goal?
- Will I like myself if I turn from person A to B?
- What are the 5 things I dislike, 5 things I am scared of, and 5 things I admire?
- The decisions I make today, how they are going to affect me in 5 days, 5 months, and 5 years?
The questions may appear straightforward, however, if we dig deep into answering authentically, the answers will result in more questions.
Likewise, the answers will differ every day, every week, and definitely in 6 months. Therefore, follow the advice that will readily work for you.
These questions have helped me and I still use them when I see myself lost, unsure, and sometimes over-confident.
Henceforth, I hope they help you bring some light to your journey of self-improvement and you become the person you want to be at your own pace.
