The definition of vulnerability is being in a state that exposes you to any potential attack or harm, either physically or emotionally. Truth is known as “that which is true or in accordance with fact or reality”.
From my personal experience, I believe that we receive the truth by being vulnerable, and vulnerability is the portal in which truth comes through.
What kind of truth is this I speak? Is it objective, subjective, relative, absolute?
I am not entirely sure. They all seem true. My guess is “the truth” I speak of is the reality of life. I cannot deny that I am alive, or that I am a sophisticated sentient being. I have the ability to articulate my thoughts, feelings, and actions at will. I have total control of my life and decisions.
Additionally, I live in a world where I can survive alone and fend for my physiological needs, along with my safety. I also have the ability to become part of a community that can love me and which I can feel I belong to (The Hierarchy of Needs).
This truth is created by what is known as “Person-Environment-Transactions.” Individuals can react towards, evoke, or provoke a reaction from the environment. A person can influence their environment as much as the environment can influence them.
As things occur, the truth will change as does the reality of life. How you view your environment, your behavior, your capabilities, your values, and beliefs will influence who you think you are (Levels of Neurological Change.) Additionally, how the person is compared in relation to everything else.
Until you see that reality is all true and always has been true. You can understand that Truth is life and being vulnerable is a way of being in this life. For someone to be truly courageous, you have to be vulnerable. Because if you are not vulnerable then you will continue living in your fears, pains, and secrets due to past experiences. You actually want live in courage, peace, and truth.
When you are comfortable being vulnerable there is a lack of concern of what others believe. Also, your mortality in spite of the fear of the unknown becomes irrelevant. This is because another’s truth is not your truth. There is a sense of honor and courage admitting your weaknesses, not only to others but yourself.
Any reiterations of the truth, anything but real truth, later become secrets. And then it becomes too late. However, it is only after so much fear and pain does a person become courageous enough to face the truth, that will set them free from pain and suffering.
When you are vulnerable you know what you like and what you do not. Additionally, you understand what you hold of high importance and respect. It is only until you continuously become vulnerable are you expressing your true personality (your truth). You have nothing hide or fear.
