With so many people wanting to reach for the stars it seems like everyone has their own guru to follow. With that guru comes tons of suggestions for how you should handle your life. Because if they can find inspiration in something you should too right?
Currently, I adore and admire Rachel Hollis (Author of Girl, Wash Your Face). Not only is she my guru, but she is also all of my friends’ guru. You simply cannot keep Rachel to yourself; I tell everyone about her. You guys she is a walking talking motivational guru gal, wrapped up in a fluffy blanket of truth, transparency, and hope.
I’m not quite sure how I stumbled upon Rachel Hollis. Knowing myself, it must have happened something like this. I tripped over a curb, fell down the north face of a mountain and landed in a wetland full of geese. My body was hurt and broken, but I wasn’t quite dead yet. I look up and see this blinged out little lady(with perfect hair and a Christmas mug) who says something to the effect of “Well, this is worse than cedar fever. But c’mon sister, its time to get back up.”
Rachel and her husband (Dave Hollis) play a role in my life that I didn’t know I needed. Because of Rachels teachings, I have become a better mother. I’m raising a happier child whos dreams will never be put aside because she is female. I keep the promises that I make to myself and to others and by that my daughter is learning from watching me.
The essential thing Rachel is teaching me is that I can be my own biggest fan, my own personal guru. So as I reach for the stars, I will always be thankful for the things I’ve learned.
Rachel, if you’re out there, thank you for being you and sharing yourself with the rest of us shmucks!
