Note: last night, I watched an improv set featuring that paragon of herculean manliness, Kevin Sorbo. If you grew up watching Hercules like me, or if you are a fan of Andromeda, you can imagine how sweet and weird and amazing something like that could be. He is doing a couple more sets at the Comedy Bar tonight in Toronto if you want to see for yourself.
- Kevin Sorbo is a very “meta” improviser. In the sense that he really likes talking to the audience during scenes.
- The Sorbs has been on television for more than twenty years. For most of my life, Kevin Sorbo has watched over me from the comfort of a television.
- Kevin Sorbo does not take himself too seriously, and it is very endearing.
- If Kevin Sorbo has the option of flirting with a man pretending to be a woman on stage or smooching pretty girls, Kevin Sorbo will always opt for pretty girls. Pretty girls will have to be found for Kevin Sorbo.
- All white men over a certain age shop at Tommy Bahamas. If they cannot afford Tommy Bahamas, they just don’t bother clothes shopping at all.
- Kevin Sorbo is relatively happy, but he can’t help but be a bit jealous of Ryan Gosling’s success. They were both Hercules, but Kevin Sorbo has never been nominated for an Oscar.
- As a Republican, Kevin Sorbo resents being taxed so much for being successful.
- As one ages, they begin to lose a certain amount of physical flexibility. Not Kevin Sorbo. He can still high kick like a motherfucker.
- People will rally behind something different, unique, and inspired. A Kevin Sorbo improv weekend is so crazy and unique that people clamored to get tickets. Because we will never see something like that again.
- If you are an actor, and you are cast in something as campy, famous, and iconic as “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys”, it is both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, it is a huge role, and you will become well-known and wealthy. On the other hand, it is difficult to earn respect as a mainstream actor when you are tied so closely to a show like Hercules. And let’s be clear: I loved Hercules, and I love people like Bruce Campbell and Kevin Sorbo much more than a lot of “respected” Hollywood actors.
I heart the Sorbo! So sad I missed him live! Amazing!
