I’m sure we’ve all been told never to drive through water, but maybe the “why” was never explained. Thanks to YouTube user Scotty Kilmer, the answer is clear.
That’s fascinating, I never realized that was a possible problem. I do remember being warned about the possibility of totaling a car by driving too quickly through water, but I’ve never seen an explanation.
Another thing to keep in mind is that even if you’re not driving a car that’s sucking air from down there, when you see high water, there’s no way of knowing how deep it is. People can and do get themselves killed when they misjudge the depth of the water and their car gets swept away in swollen rivers and such.
