We know that Trans folks have always been around, as long as there’s been written history, and it’s not a new phenomenon. But the mainstream appearance of more trans folks like Chaz Bono and Laverne Cox, and Bruce Jenner most recently, has helped bring trans issues to the forefront in a way we’ve never seen before.
In this great little BBC video, trans folks answer the questions that cisgender people often wonder. A lot of these questions are VERY rude to ask anybody, let alone somebody whom society often treats like a non-human specimen. So just listen to these answers so you don’t have to bother anybody else!
I understand not asking certain questions or really any of trans people that you don’t know or who are just my acquaintances but if they are my friends I should be able to ask them anything. By keeping this bubble you aren’t allowing true friendships to grow. I am black and if my non black friends did not feel free to ask me even the most inane questions we wouldn’t have friendship. And when they ask me dumb questions I answer them.
