24 Thoughts on Happiness and Art by Ron Cowie

I’ve been writing my thoughts down in list form because I realize we’re all busy people. Most of this comes from my own personal experience. I’m sober and listening to Bob Marley while I type.

  1. An artist never works alone.
  2. The saying “Bloom where you are planted,” is the best advice for a successful and happy life.
  3. For professional happiness, make every project fun.
  4. It isn’t grandiose to work to be the best in the world.
  5. Everyone needs to take out their garbage once a week.
  6. A gift I have received through work is seeing how my effort can help people in their work.
  7. Beauty fades and time is not always kind but it’s still the best deal going.
  8. My bad dreams let me know I’m in the game and on the edge of my experience. That’s what makes it scary and uncomfortable.
  9. I know I’m maturing because I can see how often my dad is right in his advice.
  10. My insecurities continue to make life very boring.
  11. Resisting changes happening in my life are the greatest source of financial and personal drain.
  12. Asking someone for help and being willing to accept that help are two different actions.
  13. I understand why people resist church, but it’s not as bad as you think.
  14. Why wouldn’t you want to believe in a loving God?
  15. Buy strawberries
  16. I listen to a book on tape while running to keep me from going too fast.
  17. Marriage is a good loving thing and not just for heterosexuals.
  18. When I stop worrying about what people think, I have a lot more fun.
  19. I don’t need to skydive to feel something.
  20. I shouldn’t feel guilty about liking Kung Fu movies.
  21. Getting to know someone is a privilege.
  22. The willing suspension of disbelief makes life more fun.
  23. You don’t have to be right to be happy.
  24. I love my family.
