Motivational Speaker Richard Taylor on Consistency.
—
As we work to progress in life, we sometimes hit major bumps that throw us off track. When we get thrown off track we have moments where our mind can play tricks on us and put us in a state of mental incarceration. You don’t feel like going further or just flat out don’t wanna do shit, because of the antagonizing pity that you feel. I honestly hate this point because once we get here it is very hard to get out. If we are not careful we become completely enslaved by this way of thinking and we find ourselves trapped for an extended period of time.
As I watched the movie “12 Years A Slave” the one thing that stood out to me about the main character was his consistency, despite the odds faced against him. I realize it is not a easy task, being stripped of your freedom and a life you knew, to become a piece of nothing in the eye’s of someone else. And even though this man was beaten, demoralized and completely degraded in ways he could never imagine, his thoughts of who he truly was remained consistent. Yes, his thoughts were tested at times, but they remained consistent.
I believe that we have to exude the same type of mentality in our day to day lives, because consistency is what will pull us through our roughest moments. We can’t escape the reality that Life Happens, but with life happening it is our job to remember our vision, goals and promises over our lives. These three components can keep your head just above water, while you are being hit by the waves of life. It is important to remember that you control your identity and despite what may happen in business, relationships, and life in general, you are the captain of your ship.
You don’t have to succumb to the enslavement of the mind, because at the end of the day you hold the key to your success. Be the best consistent you that you can be.
Much Love,
Richard
