Would you pay
money to see
your own funeral?
A new company has just opened and it provides a very unique service. It is able to send a video camera into the future and record 2 hours worth of footage. While there are many potential applications for this, the one they promote the most is the opportunity for people to see their own funeral.
There are some ground rules insisted upon by their lawyers:
1) All references to specific dates are blurred and bleeped, so you can’t know what year the event is taking place in (although you can get a good idea of how recent or far into the future it is by how everyone you know dresses and looks).
2) You can’t divulge what you have seen. This is such an important point that a chip is implanted in your brain that expressly prevents you from communicating the experience.
3) You have to pay the same amount of $ (and it’s A LOT of $) no matter how long the service is. There’s no difference between one that’s too long for the 2 hour limit or one that is less than 5 minutes.
This could be your chance to find out what people really thought about you and a good way to measure the impact you had on the world. It could also end up being the most depressing and dispiriting moment of your life. And there is a very good chance that by merely watching the film you set in motion the events that lead to its creation.
The question is:
Do you watch it?
