The failure to recognize two tokens that are of the same type just as soon as it suits you is the epitome of hypocrisy. I witness this in the way that many people who have had braces purely for cosmetic reasons (c’mon, let’s be honest, the dubious health benefits are not the main reason people get them) scoff at women who have had nose jobs or boob jobs. One is purportedly dignified, while the other is trashy and desperate.

I thought about this. It’s because teeth don’t have to look unique. You can’t necessarily recognise someone’s teeth. If we all had shiny straight teeth we’d still look like our individual selves. Yet…cutting into flesh…that’s messing with what’s unique to us.
Without braces, teeth can (often will) cause extractions to happen before necessary. It’s medical, not vanity.
Nose jobs and boob jobs are vanity things. To me it is like getting a sun tan. You look fine as you are but you simply want a tan.
When the braces come off, you still have what God gave you. Not in the case of the vanity stuff. What you have is fake!
You said, “When the braces come off, you still have what God gave you. Not in the case of the vanity stuff. What you have is fake!”
A nose job is typically the “re-positioning” of what God gave you. So do you approve of that? Most of the time braces are strictly for vanity reasons.
But if you disapprove of what god DIDN’T give people, of course make-up & finger nail polish, hair-dye and a host of other things…. whatever. Who cares what people pursue in attempts to make themselves happier
In England braces are available for free on the NHS. This means that they are not a status symbol, and only people with really terrible teeth have them. That is why many wealthy British people (who would have braces in the USA) have slightly wonky teeth. This is the origin of the stereotype of the wonky British teeth.
Braces may be used excessively in some cases, Yet are quite needed in others. If your bite is severely impacted by misalignment, braces can prevent years of physical pain down the line. Never heard of a boob job doing the same, have heard of a nose job as part of corrective surgery to improve breathing due to damage repair or to correct congenital issues. . I would not have spent 5 grand + insurance contribution on my daughters teeth if it was minor, 4 extractions and braces corrected doubled up teeth and a misaligned bite that caused TMJ.
Wow, this article is nice, my sister is analyzing these
kinds of things, so I am going to inform her.
