Because men love animals too. (And yes, there is a cute cat video included.)

I admit it. I am an easily influenced person when it comes to my emotions. When there are an abundance of depressing things going on in the world (for example, right now) it is really hard for me to not feel weighted down by all the things I’m unable to fix. During these times I try to be productive and put the angry/sad energy to good use.
It included a cute cat video (those get me every time!) and a term that I found really interesting: species-specific music.

As someone who likes lists and that dirty word, control, I have carefully curated a list of things that make me happy and productive in the worst of times. And at the top of that list are animals, and people who are kind to animals.

This week, while doing my usual browsing through Kickstarter, a particular campaign caught my eye. It included a cute cat video (those get me every time!) and a term that I found really interesting: species-specific music. (Learn more and check out the adorable video here.)
The creator, David Teie, is a successful cellist with a resume that would make most any musician jealous. And what is his current project? He is making music for CATS! It may seem arbitrary to some, but to me this is ground-breaking. My mind immediately goes to the many ways this can improve the well-being and health of not only cats but all species.
To me, this is just another beautiful example of the compassion and love that men regularly show for the furry creatures we share this earth with.

Science and music are similar in many ways, one of which is the ability for one song/project/research study to open up the minds of other artists/scientists to expand on a new idea. By researching and making music specifically to influence the emotions of cats, we will likely learn a great deal about their brain and health, in addition to sparking other non-traditional research studies and projects to improve the lives of living beings. And who can argue with some positive impacts to non-human creatures after all the destruction our species has caused? I’d say even non-cat people can see the beauty in that.

I also have to say that it’s not only the pro-cat aspect to this project that makes me happy. I also enjoy seeing that a man was the one to come up with this creative and caring endeavor. See, loving cats does not necessarily equal being a crazy, cat lady! To me, this is just another beautiful example of the compassion and love that men regularly show for the furry creatures we share this earth with.
Want to know another list I’ve kept over the years? I have a very select list of famous/creative people I want to be friends with. And you can bet that David Teie just made that list!
