A Cure for Wellness is not your average, run of the mill thriller
I enjoy a good thriller, but it is not every day I see a good one. I knew little about A Cure for Wellness going in. As I waited in line to see it I decided to check the trailer out. It told me a little bit, but not a whole lot about this movie. I have heard of the director thought so I decided to give it a shot. Here is what I thought of this film.
You can read the plot for A Cure for Wellness here:
An ambitious young executive is sent to retrieve his company’s CEO from an idyllic but mysterious “wellness center” at a remote location in the Swiss Alps. He soon suspects that the spa’s miraculous treatments are not what they seem. When he begins to unravel its terrifying secrets, his sanity is tested, as he finds himself diagnosed with the same curious illness that keeps all the guests here longing for the cure.
I had fun watching A Cure for Wellness. The film is full of stunning sets that felt like they were taken from a simpler time. The score is wonderful with plenty of scenes made all the more frightening by something as simple as a girl humming. Jason Isaacs is the perfect fit for Dr. Heinreich Volmer. He was mysterious, brooding and very odd, everything I expected of this character. If you want to learn more about A Cure for Wellness click on this website.
A Cure for Wellness gets 6.5/10. This was not a bad thriller, but it could have been better. There was a big reveal towards the end, but it wasn’t as powerful as it should have been. There were also moments when the film went in strange directions that didn’t always seem to make sense. This is not the worst thriller I have seen recently, but it isn’t the best either.
A Cure for Wellness comes out this Friday. You can follow this film on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
