‘Chevalier’ is out now on digital
I like watching the occasional biographical drama. Most of the time they can do a great job telling the story of a famous historical figure. When I heard about Chevalier, I was hoping it might be a good film. I was able to get a digital code for this movie and here is my thoughts on it.

You can read the plot for Chevalier here:
Inspired by the incredible true story of composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint Georges. The illegitimate son of an African slave and a French plantation owner, Bologne rises to improbable heights in French society as a celebrated violinist-composer and fencer, complete with an ill-fated love affair and a falling out with Marie Antoinette and her court.

This was an okay film. It has a strong beginning and it takes a while before it starts to lose its momentum. Sadly, as this story moves along it becomes clear things for the main character are likely to take some bad turns. The music is great and there are some strong dramatic moments as the story progresses. Once this tale comes to a close, it is clear big changes are coming to France. Some people will like this movie, but it won’t be for everyone.
