‘Disney Zombies’ will take kids on a one of a kind journey
Zombies have shown up in all kinds of ways in films and television. Most of the time they are mindless and only hunger for human flesh. Yet Disney has decided to take a new approach. In their new movie Zombies there is much more to them. I was able to get a review copy and here is what I thought of it.
You can read the plot for Zombies here:
Set in the fictitious world of Seabrook, a cookie-cutter community brimming with perky conformity 50 years after a zombie apocalypse. Today, the zombies pose no threat, but are required to live in Zombietown, an isolated, rundown community infused with their unique creative spirit. When zombies are finally allowed to enroll in Seabrook High School, the charming, charismatic zombie Zed, who is determined to play football, meets freshman Addison who dreams of being a cheerleader — the ultimate form of status in Seabrook. Addison takes a lot of flak for befriending Zed and his zombie friends, but comes to learn that zombies and cheerleaders aren’t so different after all. Zed and Addison work together to show Seabrook what they can achieve when they embrace their differences and celebrate what makes them a community.
Zombies was an alright movie, but I didn’t love it. The story is clever and original although it got predictable sometimes. The songs were okay but some just weren’t that good. They came off as forced or other times just irritating. The choreography was pretty good, and the characters were likable. There is a funny blooper reel and ‘The Zombie Survival Guide to High School’ was kind of cool. I think kids and some teens are sure to really like this film.
