A powerful new drug hits New Orleans in ‘Project Power’
Superhero movies are all over Hollywood right now. Most of them star well known heroes and villains based off Marvel and DC Comics. Once in a while a movie like Project Power comes along that takes a different take on this genre. When I heard about this movie I hoped I might get to watch it. I was able to get a screener for this film and here is what I thought of it.
You can read the plot for Project Power here:
On the streets of New Orleans, word begins to spread about a mysterious new pill that unlocks superpowers unique to each user. The catch: You don’t know what will happen until you take it. While some develop bulletproof skin, invisibility, and super strength, others exhibit a deadlier reaction. But when the pill escalates crime within the city to dangerous levels, a local cop (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) teams with a teenage dealer (Dominique Fishback) and a former soldier fueled by a secret vendetta (Jamie Foxx) to fight power with power and risk taking the pill in order to track down and stop the group responsible for creating it.
Project Power was a pretty good movie. It had a few slow moments in the beginning, but once we see this drug in action things really get action packed. This new drug has changed this city, and makes it tougher to bring it down. Someone is in charge of this drug ring, and two people decide to find a way to bring the whole thing down. They may have different reasons for doing this, but as this film moves along they realize they will have to work together to end it once and for all. The final moments are truly action packed, and does a good job bringing this film to a close. This might not be a movie for everyone, but some people are sure to enjoy it.
Project Power is available to watch now on Netflix.
