Random Acts has partnered with Sadler’s Wells to present original films from three distinctive dance artists, to coincide with their new commissions for the Reckonings stage production.
Reflecting a variety of dance styles from post-modern dance to contemporary African and hip-hop theatre, the films are informed by themes such as race representation, gender and identity.
Director Billy Boyd Cape collaborates with dance artist, choreographer and director Botis Seva and his hip-hop theatre collective, Far From The Norm, to explore the themes of love, abandonment and fatherhood. On a journey of independence, we discover a man’s inner struggle of his mind versus his soul in this emotional dance film, made in association with Sadler’s Wells.
Cape has directed music videos for FKA Twigs, Pussy Riot and Pendulum, as well as commercial and artistic short films.
Working across theatre and hip-hop, Botis Seva is founder and Artistic Director of Far From The Norm.
Commissioned for Sadler’s Wells’ 20th anniversary, Reckonings premieres at the theatre from 11 until 13 October.
