But Waymo—the spinoff of Google’s self-driving endeavors—is moving to the next frontier of the technology: Putting vehicles on the road without a safety driver monitoring the situation. Waymo has been using Chrysler Pacifica minivans in Chandler, Ariz., sans a human behind the wheel since mid-October. This week, the company released a video that has since gone viral showing employees sitting comfortably in the backseat of the Pacificas while they cruised around town. According to Tech Crunch, in the next few months, Waymo will be starting a trial ride-hailing app for Chandler residents who want to experience self-driving cars (there are also plans to expand the cars’ range to more of the Phoenix metropolitan area). Social seems pretty on board with the futuristic way of getting around: Over the last 90 days, “Self Driving Cars” have a 62 percent positive score. –Alex Shultz
