The best insight about Mother’s Day plans comes from….Mom!
Mother’s Day is coming up, and have you guys planned what you will be doing for Mother’s Day? In no way do I think I am an expert on all things women, but I have some inside information. As a stay-at-home dad, I mostly hang out with mothers during play dates or waiting in line to pick up my daughter from school. So recently while I was hanging out with my friends waiting to pick up my oldest from preschool, the moms and I were talking about what they would like for Mother’s Day.
I feel like I am Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen dropping some knowledge to NFL fans looking to get some insight on a free agent signing with a team. I found that there are no cookie cutter type plans that every mother will want to do to celebrate Mother’s Day. Some mothers would like a spa day to just relax, and that is how they feel appreciated for that day. Some moms would like to hang out and spend time with their own mothers. They feel that there is no better way to celebrate that day than to take their mother out to lunch or go see a movie. Other moms would want breakfast in bed and to spend the day with their children and husband.
So, the best way to find out what your wife wants to do for Mother’s Day is to ask her now, while we are a week out and you can plan accordingly. For me it is a bit different. Since my wife is the bread winner and I stay at home with the girls, she wants to have a family day on Sunday. Yet the day before Mother’s Day, I set her up at her favorite salon for a massage. That way she can get pampered on Saturday and on Sunday spend time with the girls and me.
I know what it feels like to be with the kids every day. It is a tough job that some spouses take for granted. It is a rewarding job to be the stay-at-home dad, but it is challenging. I know all the effort it takes to make sure your children are cared for day in and day out. So trust me, guys, this is one day you don’t want to take too lightly, and make sure you plan something that she will enjoy and will make her feel appreciated.
