Communities in Schools mission is to make sure kids stay in school and that’s why they believe it’s important to celebrate the Class of 2014 with the World’s Biggest Graduation Celebration
–
High school graduation is a momentous occasion and an American rite of passage. It’s a symbol of years of hard work and the key to each student’s bright future. In today’s world, a high school diploma is essential to landing a quality, successful career. It ensures greater earnings throughout a lifetime, gives individuals the opportunity to pursue higher education, provides the opportunity to improve skill levels and helps people lead healthier and more productive lives.
This month, graduation season is in full swing as students, parents, teachers, friends and communities celebrate high school seniors. Joining this year’s celebration is Communities In Schools (CIS), the nation’s largest and most effective organization dedicated to keeping kids in school and helping them succeed in life. The organization recently kicked off the world’s biggest interactive digital event designed to celebrate the Class of 2014 and their amazing accomplishment.
It’s called the “World’s Biggest Graduation Celebration” and it connects real-time social media interactions between millions of students across the nation on their graduation day. Anyone can take part in the national graduation celebration by tagging their photos, videos and tweets with #ClassOfChange. Everything is being collected from all social media platforms to form the World’s Biggest Graduation Processional online: http://cisnational.org/ClssChng
The Processional weaves together these celebratory images and videos and words of encouragement from graduation days across the country. Together they tell a powerful and moving story of how students, families, schools and communities are helping change the picture of education in America.
The “World’s Biggest Graduation Celebration” is part of Communities In Schools’ Change the Picture campaign. Launched in April, the campaign shares stories of kids who are succeeding in school despite challenging obstacles.
With Change the Picture, CIS makes the assertion that all young people can succeed, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and socioeconomic status. But for this to happen, all of us must be involved. Changing the picture of education means everyone – teachers, parents, business leaders, policymakers, and members of our community can all help change the picture of education and provide every student in America a path to a better future.
Working with both schools and their surrounding communities, Communities In Schools does whatever it takes to help kids stay in school and succeed in life. Based directly inside schools throughout the country, Communities In Schools connects students and their families to basic and critical educational and community-based resources, tailored to each student’s specific needs.
Communities In Schools works in 2,200 schools in the most challenged communities of 26 states and the District of Columbia and serves 1.3 million young people and their families every year. As the nation’s leading dropout prevention organization, Communities In Schools is the only one proven to both decrease dropout rates and increase graduation rates.
Join the movement to change the picture of education in America by tagging your graduation day photos with #ClassOfChange. See the processional at http://cisnational.org/ClssChng
