One man on r/adultery told his tale of woe:
“So, the day I hoped would never come, has arrived on my door.
I cheated. I got chlamydia. I have had contact with my wife, so there really is no option but to tell her.
I don’t want sympathy. I don’t want anything. I made this mess. I have to own it.
Any advice going forward? I’m going to reap what I sow. My wife is entitled to whatever course of action she chooses from here.”
The adultery veterans chimed in:
- Full disclosure. Don’t lie. Rip the bandaid off. She can get sick and lose fertility. Women can be asymptomatic for a long time while it does damage.
- For fucks sake, wear a rubber!
- I feel for your wife. I got it from a cheating boyfriend. I haven’t had sex with my husband in over 4 years. So, if I get an STI, it’s my problem. Takes a special someone to go unprotected with randoms while having sex with your spouse.
- Advice for the future is getting an STI panel (for yourself and AP) before going raw.
- Let the initial anger/meltdown happen. She will have a million questions. Own it. Answer her questions once… succinctly. Then move on… you can’t keep revisiting the past.
- The marriage you had is over. I don’t believe that there can be forgiveness. Let alone reconciliation. It’s too broken to repair. We cheaters understand this when we start. And if we don’t, we should.
- Don’t tell her it was “only sex” if it wasn’t. Answer the WHY questions. You will have to answer the WHY questions over and over again.
- If she suggests counseling, go with your tail between your legs.
- Update us after your wife takes EVERYTHING from you and leaves you broke as fuck.
- This is why I use condoms. My advice for you is to brace for impact, and hope you make it out alive with your nuts intact.
- Divorce is imminent.
- I have sympathy for you. If your marriage is as bad as mine, I understand why you needed to go elsewhere. I have no advice, but I wish you the best.
- Let the chips fall where they may. Good luck. This will be a very difficult conversation.
- Fake your own death. (OMG! This has to be a sick joke.)
The guy is cooked.
No one even hopes they will stay together and “work things out.” Getting an unwanted, potentially life-changing STD changes everything. It destroys your belief in people.
You’ll never witness anger and hatred like this when your spouse realizes the marriage was one big lie.
