The only regrets I’ve experienced have come when I’ve allowed others to dictate who I should be and how I should live. Those regrets only remained when I allowed these others to determine what I should create or have a say in my life’s overall value.
I’ve never felt regret when I’ve tried and failed or when I’ve fully loved and lost. I’ve never held on to feelings of regret when I honoured my inner inspirations and creative flow.
I’ve felt hurt, abandoned, alone and fearful at times, this is true. Yet those feelings passed and fuelled my creativity. They gave me rich fodder to draw upon. I was called on to tap into my creative juices in order to express and heal those feelings in healthy ways.
Every time I found a way through and out of the mires of heavy emotions, it’s because I honoured that life force within me. That inner voice that whispered: “Create, Create, Create, and all will be well.”
Some of us need to be creative just to feel alive.
Life otherwise, becomes nothing but drudgery, conditioned responses and uninspired actions in sync with the masses. For some of us, life feels like a living death if we do not honour our passions, wisdom, presence and joy.
It’s nothing to be ashamed of. We are to be celebrated for our willingness to cut our lives from new cloth, to live life on the bias, rather than through the straight and narrow path.
Regrets come, when we hem ourselves in or listen to those that stifle our soul’s expression. Regrets remain when we box-step through life when a fiery flamenco is our true expression. Regrets end, when we stop dishonouring who we are and what really lights us up. All the while honouring those who do not feel the need to live in or walk through the fire to feel alive.
If your creative-soul is asking you to be true to yourself and you don’t listen, then regrets aplenty are heading your way. And if you’re not listening, then which voices of supposed reason are you allowing to stifle that inner call?
