For years, gratitude journals and practices have been all the rage. And it does work. I’ve kept a gratitude journal, writing down three things I’m grateful for at bedtime. There’s solid research behind it. But there are other forces in the universe that we can tap into, like luck.
Luck is a mysterious and often elusive concept. Some people seem to be luckier than others, but is it just a matter of chance, or is there something that people can do to increase their luck?
While luck may seem like an unpredictable and uncontrollable force, there are actually several things that you can do to increase your luck and improve your chances of success according to researchers like Richard Wiseman who study luck. He has found that there are four qualities that lucky people share:
So if you’d like to be luckier, here are some ways that I’ve found that can improve your luck quotient:
Make your own luck.
Inventor Thomas Edison said, “Success is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration.” One of the most effective ways to increase your luck and therefore your success is to create your own opportunities. Take initiative, be proactive, and look for ways to create value in the world.
It might mean starting your own business, volunteering your time and skills to help others, or simply looking for ways to make a difference in your community. By creating your own opportunities instead of waiting for others to open a door for you, you are taking control of your own destiny and increasing your chances of success.
Keep an open mind.
Another key to increasing your luck is to be open to new ideas and experiences. This means being willing to try new things, even if they seem a little risky or uncertain.
It might mean taking a chance on a new project or opportunity, or simply being open to learning and exploring new subjects. By keeping an open mind, you increase your chances of stumbling upon something lucky or unexpected.
Network and make connections.
Networking is an important part of any career or personal development journey. By building relationships and making connections, you increase your chances of finding new opportunities and luck. This might mean joining a professional organization, attending industry events, or simply making an effort to connect with people who share your interests and goals. The more people you know, the more likely it is that you will be able to find opportunities and luck through your connections.
Stay positive and persistent.
Luck is often a matter of perspective, and it’s important to stay positive and persistent even when things aren’t going your way. This means staying focused on your goals and not letting setbacks or failures get you down. It also means being resilient and bouncing back from setbacks, and continuing to pursue your goals despite any obstacles or challenges. By maintaining a positive attitude and a persistent approach, you increase your chances of finding luck and success.
Be open to change.
Change is an inevitable part of life, and it’s important to be open to new experiences and opportunities. This means being flexible and adaptable, and being willing to embrace change when it comes your way. By being open to change, you increase your chances of finding luck and success, as you are more likely to be open to new opportunities and experiences that come your way.
Follow your passions.
Following your passions is an important part of finding luck and success. This means pursuing your interests and hobbies, and doing the things that make you happy. By following your passions, you are more likely to find luck and success.
In Conclusion
Mindset rules here. Luck is all around you but you have to believe in it and open your eyes to see it. And then of course, you have to act on it.
Good luck!
