My fiancée and I historically don’t spend enough time outside. We both work a lot, and schedules don’t always align, so it can be hard to find the time.
In these COVID times, though, things have been different. We both now have the privilege of working from home every day, so we can squeeze in time to go for walks during lunch, or in between jobs.
Still, I’m personally not a huge fan of the outside. I know, “hot take”. In the summer it’s burning hot, and in the winter it’s freezing cold. (It’s absolutely lovely the 10 days a year we get for spring and fall around here, but that’s a tiny fraction of the year.)
Well, one of the things that gets us moving these days is the turtles. You see, there’s this neighborhood near us that we like to walk to/through, and they have this little pond. In that pond, are turtles! A whole family of them (assuming they’re related).
When we first went, we counted 5. Subsequent times, we counted 6, then 8, back down to 5 (where’d they go?), thankfully back to 10, as high as 12 one day.
Plus — get this — there are 2 baby turtles. That’s right. There are 2 incredibly tiny, freshly made, cute little green adorable mini-turtles!
What was once a lack of desire to go on much-needed walks, is now a hyped up sensation of “let’s go see the turtles”.
That’s a whole lotta text to basically say: go live your life, get some fresh air, and appreciate the world around you. Find your personal “turtles” in your life that get you going in the morning, and everything you do will feel a bit more magical.
