Happy Enough
When you have enough money, it’s “Fu money,” allowing you to say no to anything you don’t want to do. Similarly, there’s a concept of “Fu confidence” – the idea that you don’t need to be completely happy before finding a relationship; you just need to be happy enough. In this discussion, we explore the importance of being happy enough and how it’s a catalyst for healing in relationships.
Rejecting the Notion of Complete Happiness
People often say you have to be completely happy, fulfilled, and enlightened before finding a relationship. This notion can be challenging, especially when the advice comes from someone already in a relationship, potentially masking the struggles they faced. The good news is, you don’t have to be blissfully happy; being happy enough is sufficient.
Being happy enough is crucial because it prevents settling for the wrong thing, allows you to walk away from mistreatment, and ensures that the right thing doesn’t consume your entire life. It provides the strength to make wise decisions in relationships.
Rather than striving for complete happiness before finding someone, consider that the right person can be a catalyst for healing. Being with someone who creates a safe environment for growth and healing allows you to relax and become more authentic.
Shift the focus from pursuing a relationship to expanding your life. Three potential ways to achieve this are discussed.
Looking at Your Needs
Examine the needs you must meet weekly and find unconventional ways to fulfill them. Stepping outside your comfort zone can lead to new experiences, friendships, and personal growth.
Saying “Yes”
Accept invitations from people you wouldn’t usually spend time with. Embrace discomfort to discover new friendship groups and explore different perspectives.
The 90-Minute Challenge
Travel within a 90-minute radius of your location and find adventures that make you appreciate the beauty around you. This practice expands your world and enriches your life.
“Happy Enough” Venn Diagram
Explore the three components of being happy enough: communication, confidence, and a rich, fulfilling life. These components create a stable foundation for making strong decisions in relationships.
1. Communication:
– Learn the language of effective communication.
– Articulate your needs, standards, and expectations.
2. Confidence:
– Develop a positive relationship with yourself.
– Understand and communicate your self-worth.
– Have the courage to walk away from situations that don’t align with your needs.
3. Life Enrichment:
– Cultivate a fulfilling life with various interests and relationships.
– Imagine your life as a table with different “legs” supporting it.
– Continuously strive for personal growth and fulfillment.
Each “leg” represents a component of your life, such as health, career, passions, friends, and family. These legs support your stability, and if one breaks, the others provide support until you’re ready to replace it.
Happy enough is a more achievable and modest goal than constant bliss. It grants personal power, allowing you to say no to the wrong things and pursue what truly makes you happy.
Join the quest for “F-U confidence” and embark on a journey to be happy enough. Remember, it’s not about being blissfully happy all the time but having the personal power to make life-altering decisions. Find strength in being happily single while remaining open to the possibility of a fulfilling relationship.
