Little things mean a lot, sang Kallen Kitty.
Blow me a kiss from across the room…Touch my hair as you pass my chair
Little things mean a lot.
An essay on touch in Psychology Today (2014) says that touch is a very important aspect of romantic relationships. Writes the author Aaron Ben-Zeeve:
Tactile physical affection is highly correlated with overall relationship and partner satisfaction. Moreover, conflict resolution is easier with more physical affection—conflicts are resolved more easily with increased amounts of hugging, cuddling/holding, and kissing on the lips.
Non-sexual touch is healthy and a pre-requisite to an active sex life. When couples touch, it creates non-verbal communication—a somatosensory experience—that conveys love and comforts a partner. A reassuring squeeze on the palm speaks better than an hour-long conversation. Women seek emotional fulfilment as much as physical love. Few couples touch each other for reasons other than sex. It’s beautiful to once in a while remove the carnal side of your relationship and indulge in puppy love. A nice head massage is more orgasmic than a real orgasm sometimes. Sex is just a by-product of love in a relationship.
Give me your arm as we cross the street…Call me at six on the dot…
Little things mean a lot.
Yes, little things mean A LOT.
