Dann Alexander believes that writers can teach us great lessons on life.

When I’ve completed an amazing book or finished a great article, it ends up staying within close range of my home office desk. It is within easy reach in my writing space. Books that have impacted me on such a level have little flags sticking out of them so I can reference certain points in them. It might be an idea to further expand on something they have written. Usually, the flags represent a particular spark of inspiration that needs to be committed to life and memory. The information highway is taken for granted in a very distinct way. Users can really seek out ways to be inspired by content. People drive readers to books and articles that could have life-changing impact. Good writing is meant to be shared.
If something you have read has helped you, there is a good chance it will help someone else. In my career I’ve been very fortunate to have heard from readers who will tell me a particular post I have written made them smile, laugh or just feel better about life and about themselves. The majority of feedback I received from my book (which is about not having children) represented people who wanted to say thank you. Male readers who might have been somewhat afraid to talk about not wanting to have kids told me they feel a voice has spoken up for them.My work is often the result of being inspired by other writers to keep working. This is a career and business that I am passionate about.
The creative words of many have given me a positive outlook on life. They have even helped me sharpen the words that end up on the page and screen. Writers have the tremendous benefit of possibly gaining even more lit sparks from what they read.Content can inspire writers to be better people. It can also inspire them to be better writers. A book or article with powerful impact can instantly change how someone in this business writes, and lives, for the better.Whether you are a writer/reader or even solely a reader, think about the impact those favourite books and articles have had on you. Here are just some of the books that have guided me to better thinking and better writing.Carol Leifer – How to Succeed In Business Without Really Crying, Sara Benincasa – Real Artists Have Day Jobs, Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn – Full Catastrophe Living, Michael Losier – Law of Attraction.
