Two more Democratic senators have publicly announced their support of gay marriage. Heidi Heitkamp from North Dakota, and Joe Donnelly from Indiana, both conservative “red-states”, have changed their stance on same-sex marriage. Heitkamp said in a statement, “The makeup of families is changing, but the importance of family is enduring.” These last two “evolvers” leave only 4 Democratic senators who have not come out in support of same-sex marriage. But don’t expect those last 4 to jump on the band-wagon, the New york Times‘ Nate Silver writes, “The remaining senators who have not taken the opportunity yet may have good political reasons for it, and may wait some time before they do.”
