The US Supreme Court has declined to hear a challenge from five New York state residents and the Second Amendment Foundation against a strict gun law that “makes it difficult for residents to get a license to carry a concealed handgun in public.” The lawsuit was also supported by the NRA and 20 other US states. The law being challenged is not one of the new laws passed in January, but instead addresses a decision made in November, by the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals in New York, to uphold a state law that “requires those who want to carry handguns to show a special need for self-protection.”
