Gino Cima rushed into the burning home to try to save the family inside.
7 People have been reported dead after a fire broke out in a home in rural Kentucky, Saturday morning. WATE News reports that a 911 call was received around 10am about the fire from a neighbor. Officials say the found the bodies of 2 adults and 5 children in the home. Kentucky State Police Seargent Jimmy Young told reporters, “It was a very hard incident to deal with, especially with the loss of life that’s involved. It’s probably one of the more severe ones that I have seen.”
According to the Associated Press, Gino Cima, the uncle of one of the victims “desperately tried to save them from the burning home.” His wife, Laura Cima told reporters her husband “raced to the house” when he heard about the fire, but he arrived to late. Cima rushed into the house to try to save the family and found the two adults unconcious on the floor. He dragged them out yelling “There’s babies in there!” to arriving firefighters, but sadly all 5 children perished as well.
Authorities are still investigating the fire, but they report that no “foul play” is suspected.
