Kids go through all sorts of phases on the way to becoming an adult. But no phase strikes fear into the heart and soul of all parents quite like knowing your child has now become a teenager.
Forget about your sweet little child it has been replaced by the essence of a cat.
“…cat’s are like roommates. They are around sometimes and may look in your direction to say hello before landing in their favorite spot. They hang out when they feel like it, it doesn’t matter to them what you want or need. It’s all about them. They bring home strangers, most of them tend to be dead, but are 100% unwelcome. When they want to cuddle it’s on their time.” -Christine Bofenkamp*
This is now your world. It doesn’t matter how sweet they are or how kind he is. You teenager just became a selfish creature, who won’t listen to you, will roll their eyes at you, and they will still bring home strangers(in this version: not dead). When you have done something fantastic for them, they may still pee in your shoes just to see your reaction.
Now, remember, even cats have their moments. These teens will appear sweet and helpful around the house but only if it benefits them. My advice to you is never and I mean never, turn your back on your teen because they now have claws.
