- The place Mos Def, Jay Z, Biggie, and ODB grew up is different than the BedStuy of today. For instance: more white people.
- Gentrification greatly changes the culture of a neighbourhood. It can be good (reducing violent crime), and it can be bad (displacing long-time residents).
- Block parties are real, and they are amazing.
- There are places where you know and wave to your neighbours. They exist in Brooklyn. Not so much in Toronto.
- Want to know what reggae song is popular this summer? Walk along Flatbush. Hang out at the Fulton mall. Shit, just walk around anywhere.
- “But you’re my friend!” (slap) “I’m not your friend, I’m your baby mama!“
- BedStuy needs more barbershops like “Don’t Fear the Reaper” needs more cowbell.
- Williamsburg bla bla bla. Cheap beer, novelty bars.
- By the time I was able to live in Brooklyn, living in Brooklyn was no longer a cool thing. It’s just cheaper than living other places. And actually, most of Brooklyn ain’t that cheap anymore.
- Queens is the new Brooklyn? Or something. But if you ask me, it’s all about the Bronx.
