Chris Pratt gives the only 2 pieces of fitness advice you’ll ever need.
Gym memberships, weight machines, diet books, fad diets, infomercial products and on! The fitness industry is chock full of options to help us get fit, stay fit and feel better. Why don’t most of us do it? I don’t know, maybe because we have the lazy gene; maybe because our lives are too busy or we’re too easily distracted and forego our exercise. Regardless of the reason, it’s not very difficult to get back into shape. In fact, Chris Pratt, Hollywood’s latest darling, recently gave the most sane, simple and profound advice to a fan.
Pratt plays Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy and in a recent Q&A session he answered a fan’s question about how to lose weight. Pratt himself has struggled with his weight and identified with the fan. “Give yourself 6 months,” he said. “6 months seems like a long time, unless you’re looking backwards.”
Then he laid down the law in the kindest way possible. “Cut the crap out of your diet,” he said, “and spend an hour a day doing something physical that will make you sweat.” I concur. It is that simple. Thank you Chris for breaking down the gospel of fitness so eloquently! Now if we can only get the rest of our society to take some action we might start getting somewhere. We would make a huge dent in helping our obesity epidemic. We’ll lower our continuously rising medical bills. We would have far less violence. I can go on and on! Even Pratt says, “you will feel better physically, mentally and spiritually. It’s all tied together.”
Part of the problem is that people think going for a walk is great exercise. It is, but not if you want to shed pounds. Even a daily hike is great, but not if you’re looking for that bikini bod or those shredded abs. All that fitness you see in the magazines, online and on television takes work, it takes dedication, commitment, waking up early, doing the things you don’t want to do. Putting on your running shoes and sprinting up that damn hill; pushing yourself, not just to your limit, but beyond. Consistency is the only way to conquer that nagging, lazy voice inside you that tells you to sleep in, roll over, turn on the TV. Forget it all and get outside.
Star Lord has just given you an order!
1. Be consistent
2. Cut out the crap from your diet.
3. Sweat once a day for an hour.
4. If necessary, hire a coach to help you stay on track.
Hopefully, I’ll see the fitter, happier you in a Galaxy very very near and very very soon.
