The notion of walking as a social event is very powerful. Personally, and in my wellness coaching, I’m working toward—and teaching—life as a social event. Make meals social events. Make great friends at work or if you work for yourself, work with other business owners when you can. It seems we’ve gotten very reductionist in our lives where we have our work life, our exercise, our meals, etc. and our social life as another thing to try to “fit in”. It seems these long-living, disease-free peoples live with tight social networks. We can all move toward this way of life. As we do so, exercise stops being exercise in the sense of something to do for my body and meals stop being something to do for my body. Physical activity and meals become social events that also naturally nourish our bodies. I really enjoyed your article. It got me excited to explore these ways of being more.
