There has never been a candidate for any office that I am aware of that has given voters so many legitimate opportunities to drop their support. We can’t consider what Trump says as mere gaffes anymore; it’s just who he is. Time and time again he has provided reasons why nobody should support him, for anything, ever!
This vaudeville act stopped being funny a long time ago.
He isn’t edgy, he isn’t cute, he isn’t clever. He’s an insecure, juvenile bully who thinks he can become student body president by pulling his opponents underwear over their head. He’s Biff Tannen from “Back to the Future 2.” You know, the one where he is a casino owner? Well, folks, this isn’t Biff’s Pleasure Paradise, this is the Presidency of the United States, and Biff wants it.
It’s not like he hasn’t given people a way out, many of them. This isn’t just about supporting someone else, although there are much better choices. We get it; you hate Hillary. Yet, you’re willing to risk the future of America while sacrificing your own integrity on the altar of Trump?
◊♦◊
I could write for days just about the lies and stupid, misinformed comments he has made in just the last 24 hours. For now, though I just want you to think about these as times you should have given up on this dude.
1. The day he announced. Trump said “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best.” he continued “They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” Not only was this one of the most incendiary statements ever made by a presidential candidate against an entire race of people, but IT WAS also THE FIRST THING HE SAID!
2. The day he said he would make Mexico pay for his wall. Yes, I know it was the same day as #1, which adds to its putridness. However, no he isn’t going to make Mexico pay for anything. What does he know about paying for construction projects anyhow?
3. The time he made fun of a physically challenged reporter. The fact that anyone could support him after this one defies logic. Of course, we know logic doesn’t seem to come into play when we are talking about the Trump campaign.
4. The day we found out he doesn’t know what the nuclear triad is. It happened in a debate, and it was like watching a slow motion trainwreck. It would have been a similar response to asking a toddler to explain thermal dynamics. And that toddler was an idiot.
5. The day he said John McCain was not a war hero. There is a lot of negative things one might say about McCain. You may not like his policy positions; you may not like the fact he’s been in the Senate for so long. The one thing that is you can’t deny is his military service and the sacrifice he has made for this country in war. The fact that Trump can motivate support by attacking his service tells me about the dark heart of a Trump supporter.
6. When he went after a sitting Judge over his heritage. Criticizing a judge is one thing, and it’s something that I would never shy away from when necessary. However to do it solely based on the Judge’s ethnicity is the definition of RACIST!
7. When he attacked the Cruz family. Take your pick of which one. Ted Cruz’s wife Heidi or Rafael Cruz his father. Trump had some pretty disgusting things to say about both of them. However to insinuate the elder Cruz was somehow involved in the JFK assassination may be the most insane of all the personal attacks to date.
8. That thing he said about Megan Kelly. Vile, disgusting and sophomoric. That is how you would describe it. As we have seen, however, it’s a common theme of his. If you don’t like what he says or question him to directly, he attacks you personally. It’s also a tactic his most ardent supporters seem to favor.
9. When he attacked a gold star family. The Khan’s son, a Muslim, paid the ultimate sacrifice. Trump has consistently questioned the patriotism of Muslims, and the motives of Islamic immigrants that are coming to this country. The Kahn’s spoke out about this at the DNC. He responded like you would expect someone who wants to be the leader of the free world. He threw a fit and said they picked on him; he then attacked them. One of his lead henchmen Roger Stone even went as far as to insinuate Mr. Khan and his son were connected to terrorism.
10. When he said, he saw a video of money being exchanged for hostages. Yeah, he was full of shit then too.
11. When he said, we should go after the families of terrorists. Terrorist suck, we all know that. I have no problem with exterminating them. However to say that we should bomb entire cities and kill the families of terrorists is beyond the pale. I don’t know what country Trump grew up in, but that is not how America should operate. To be fair here, Ted Cruz made similar statements, and I found those just as disgusting.
12. When he said, he didn’t know anything about white supremacists. Instead of disavowing former Klan leader David Duke’s endorsement, Trump just sidestepped the issue. His weak response was, “I don’t know anything about him or white supremacist.” WTF does that even mean? Hey, Donald, WHITE SUPREMACISTS are bad in every setting. Except in your campaign apparently.
13. When he appeared to encourage, 2nd amendment supporters to shoot Hillary and or her Supreme Court nominees. If the GOP retains the House and Senate, she may never actually have any Supreme Court nominees, but that is beside the point here. If the average citizen had made a similar statement in a Facebook post, the Secret Service would be knocking on the door within a few hours. This wasn’t a joke or just another gaffe; this was a sickening position for a candidate seeking any public office to take.

That, my friends, is just 13 of the hundreds of reasons why you should have already dropped your support for this guy. He simply cannot be trusted to represent our country in a civilized world. He can’t be left to his own devices to say and do what is right for the security and future of our nation.
I want you to ask yourself this, had Barack Obama said any of these things how would you have reacted in 2008 or 2012? If Hillary said any of this stuff this year, how would you respond? We know that answer, and it makes you a hypocrite.

Comment: “Did he go too far this time? Or the other 12? Trump is taking a beating in social media on his second amendment comment over the last few days but we’ll see if this turns any supporters. The candidate is on a downward trend in positives on Social over the last 30 days due in part to the long list in the article above.” – Howard K. 30dB
I’m going to throw on an extra one here – his 2006 remarks where he prayed that a recession would hit so he could line his pockets. I don’t know why this hasn’t been played time and time again because it’s probably the clearest way to demonstrate that he doesn’t give a damn about the people who vote for him.
Well done and well-handled, J.W. This story is traveling well across the web. It’s exactly the kind of concise summary that has a positive impact in the swing states where the undecided will decide this election. Arguing with those who have made up their mind is not fruitful. It’s the undecided who matter now. Thank you for your courage and clarity.
I’m noticing btw, more and more deletions. Very rarely do I ever see personal attacks. I can only conclude this observation, if true, are because a particular pop isn’t being espoused. Is that true?
The worst thing is, it’s not even necessary. Simply make your case for Clinton as president. The never Hillary people are pretty open with them supporting Trump because he’s the less bad choice from two viable candidates. Make the case that Hillary is better if you believe it.
13. Trump c;clarified the remark. You, yourself mention a way for her nominees to be blocked, by not getting senate confirmation.
He didn’t clarify at all, his surrogates are trying to cover for him like always. He is again claiming the big bad media is after him when indeed he said something inflammatory.
You not believing him doesn’t mean he didn’t clarify it. That’s the point right. You don’t believe him. Even with a democratic congress, I can see instances where a judicial candidate could be blocked. It was the blue dog democrats that stopped Obama care.
They wouldn’t get every nomination blocked, but that’s not even the point. You often settle for a justice who’s competent and not too ideologically opposed to you.
12. So your advocating that a President should act before they understand what the situation is. Madam President your pizza hasn’t arrived yet. Must be a Russian attack. Better press the button.
No I am saying that a man who said this to Matt Lauer on February 14th 2000 “Well, you’ve got David Duke just joined — a bigot, a racist, a problem. I mean, this is not exactly the people you want in your party.” Is lying now!
Oh, Matt Lauer told him. You should have said so. That makes all the difference. He’s totally not cheating on his wife so I guess I’d got to just accept his assessment.

I mean it was just recorded on video, and broadcast to a national tv audience.
What the hell is it with these comments? Folks commenting on the Good Men Project are started to sound like the worst elements of the reactionary MRAs.
The problem simply put is that writers are doing two things. 1. They’re telling the never Trump people that a vote for Stein or Johnson is essentially a vote for Trump because it prevents his only viable opponent from winning. 2. They tell the never Hillary people that the most important thing is to vote their conscience and vote for someone other than Trump. They fail to realize that people are smart enough to see these articles and realize that a vote for Stein or Johnson or McMullin or someone else is a vote for Clinton. So if you want… Read more »
Again, I am not pushing anyone to vote for Hillary if you don’t feel like she is the best candidate. My goal it for people to examine why they shouldn’t support Trump. I can’t say I am a fan of Stein but I do like what Johnson has to say on many issues.
I also don’t discourage people from voting for Clinton, because at this moment I believe she is 1000% better than Trump. That is where you and I have a disconnect.
Have you heard of the prisoners dilemma? It goes like this. Two prisoners are each offered a deal. If either one takes the deal, he gets 10 years and the other gets 20. If they both take the deal, they both get 10 years. If he turns down the deal and the other guy accepts, he gets 20 years and his partner gets 10. If neither takes the deal, they both walk free. What is best for the prisoner, is dependent on what the other guy does. If the never Hillary people vote for Stein, they get Clinton unless the… Read more »
Who? Reactionary what’s? . Sorry not getting it.
11. Obama and Clinton would simply call that collateral damage. The question I would ask is, how many U.S. lives and civilian lives are worth limiting collateral damage? I’ve heard stories of strikes being called off and / or opportunities missed because there were civilians in the target area.
I wouldn’t be in favor of killing innocent men, women, and children of any nationality. American or otherwise. I am glad to know you are getting direct intel from the battlefield.
Not from the battlefield, but after the Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch stuff, would it be more accurate? Glad to know you’re not for killing innocent men, women, and children. So how do you think Clinton is going to prevent it other than not shooting?
I wish I knew the answer to that one John.
I know. She can’t or he can’t whoever is there.
That’s totally ok if you’re against it jw. Not fond of it either. But unfortunately it is a tactic of war if you’re gonna win. Ask the tsaratov brothers, sorry, sp, or anyone of AL queda/isis. It really is the reality of the art of war. Truman knew it too jw.
But to equate that we have to kill civilians over there to protect civilians here is disingenuous at best.
Why? That makes no sense to me. If I’m in a war I darn well will do anything over there so my family and citizens over here are never harmed. This is not a rules of war thing. You really are saying you would easily put your family at risk so your enemy’s family don’t suffer. Wow. Nice sentiment but I wouldn’t share that with your wife if I were you.
10. Because a plane full of cash from the U.S. arriving shortly after Iran releases detained Americans couldn’t possibly be related. It’s not like we invented electronic funds transfer or anything or you know they could just unfreeze the assets that were supposedly previously wrongfully frozen.
9. He questioned why the mother didn’t speak. That’s an attack? I think it was a political mistake. Still, I don’t see how this changes the need to vet any refuges who we let into the country and Clinton hasn’t satisfactory identified how she’d ensure it. When you can’t attack the policy, find something else to attack seems like a strategy Clinton supporters have adopted as well.
It was yet another slap at the family and the Muslim faith. Pure and simple, he tries to discredit people by using these outlandish tactics then he plays victim. However like you said “when you can’t attack the policy, find something else to attack” and in this case he chose a gold star family of an American hero.
I’m glad you’re cool with all this John, I could never be.
“I’m glad you’re cool with all this John, I could never be.”
You’re just cool with rape apology and DV (Oh, when committed by women against men. Jury’s still out if it goes the other way too.)
8. I like Kelly, but journalists aren’t immune to criticism. If Trump believed the question was unfair, he has every right to call it into question. Anyway, I don’t think this rises to the level of disqualifying a person for the presidency especially if we’re going to let alleged domestic violence perpetrators off the hook. I don’t see insulting someone as more serious than perpetrating physical violence.
That wasn’t criticism and you know it. It was a crude, sexist remark. Made to belittle her as a journalist simply because she was female.
I think people use short hand terms to convey meanings that don’t necessarily need to be sexist, but people categorize them as such. For example. have you ever heard a person calling another a jerk? That’s short for jerk off (who the f didn’t know that?), which is a sexist term to castigate men who are man enough to entice women into having sex with them. How many times have you called it out as sexist? How many times have you heard the term sucks. Maybe they’re talking about eggs or lemons. but I’m pretty sure it originating from sucking… Read more »
John, you’re going a long way around the world to be an apologist for this guy. What he said would have gotten anyone fired in the working world. As well it should. Yet he’s supposed to get away with it because he’s a “straight shooter?”
Thanks for letting us know even more about your ignorance, male.
“You’d notice that all these terms are to minimize or question a person’s masculinity.” – Yes, a guy who sucks can only be into men – and gay/bi men have a “minimized” or questionable “masculinity”. Thanks for making it clear you believe it.
Thanks for dismissing sexist against women once again, too! It’s always awesome when males show their true color like that. If only you were that honest about your isseus to the poor women who know you… that would be a great favor!
7. As opposed to telling everyone they should believe rape accusers. Well, except the ones who accused her husband of rape.
Again you’re using Fox News talking points and wild innuendo to dodge the issue of what Trump actually did.
So now multiple women accusing a man of rape is innuendo? OK, so how does that change the fact that Clinton’s position is we must believe rape accusers just not the ones accusing her husband?
The issue is that given 2 viable candidates. Why would I abandon one for another (whether directly or indirectly) who’s worse?
Umm. Under normal circumstances the left is calling it Faux news but in this case you’re supporting it’s employee. Look. I love Megan. She’s smart and tough. Trump doesn’t scare her, nor do most. She’s very smart. So its not some poor fragile woman you’re dealing with here jw. Sooner or later you’ll come to realize that your faux news is actually telling you more of the truth than anyplace else. Seriously. Look at the journalistic reviews. You may not like it but CNN and msnbc know it too. Do you know that msnbc lured for alot of money Megan… Read more »
6. As opposed to a person who believes that women are superior to men.
http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/23/politics/hillary-clinton-gender-merits/
One of her merits (read one of her qualifications / qualities that makes her the better choice) is that she’s a woman.
Those two things aren’t the same. She never said men can’t do a job because they are men. He questioned the integrity of a Judge simply over his race… That is still racist.
Not really. He was questioning bias, which is a fair question to ask a judge. Look at Sotomayor. She clearly stated being a Hispanic in the highest court would bring her experiences as a Hispanic to her views. Cmon man.
No she just said that women are superior by definition that’s sexist. Men have disproportional died and suffered injury in defense of this country and our freedoms, but because it’s your preferred candidate, she should be to say that she’d be a better commander and chief than they because she’s a woman.
5. I’m pretty sure Hillary wasn’t ever registered for the draft (Trump may have) and we all know that Bill avoided it. I do know one thing, if I allow the worst of the possible candidates to win (Clinton), by wasting my vote that would be a greater insult to the sacrifice the soldiers made.
let me help you with that… http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/02/us/politics/donald-trump-draft-record.html?_r=0
So he had to actually get out of it sounds like female privilege.
Btw. I can’t wait for the commentary from quarters that will repeat, verbatim, what I just said, yet change the names, as an indictment of the conservative position. Lol!
4. As opposed to a person who was a U.S. senator, first lady, head of the state department etc. not knowing that ISIS didn’t have any aircraft. That’s pretty basic misunderstanding for someone who’s spent 20 years in politics at the federal level and wants to be COMMANDER and CHIEF of the armed forces.
First that’s a stretch and not at all what happened in that debate. Secondly I would say that having at least an elementary understanding of how government and military strategy works would be beneficial. That’s just me though.
“having at least an elementary understanding of how government and military strategy works would be beneficial. That’s just me though.”
Oh you mean like knowing that having a no fly zone doesn’t do any good if your enemies don’t have planes?
3. I think you put everything in perspective because you’re choosing between the candidates. Clinton has reportedly beaten her husband. I think actions and perpetuating DV is a bit more serious, but doesn’t actually cause anyone to abandon Hillary Clinton and according to some reports it wasn’t a one off.
So you’re ok with mocking the handicapped because you “heard” she beats Bill? Got it!
So your saying that no man has ever blamed his injuries on something else after being hit by his wife because there are no societal stigmas. Could be all those non-existent DV shelters for men. Got it.
I’m still trying to figure out how this strawman argument even applies.
2. This I’m not sure. It might just be something a candidate says to make people think they have it call figured out when someone asks them, a question they aren’t prepared for like Hillary’s big idea to defeat ISI with a no fly zone grounding all those non-existent ISIS planes or maybe she was planning to shoot down ours, Airghazi?
He may be quite earnest though. Maybe he’s planning on repealing that disastrous Clinton NAFTA signing which decimated the middle class.
Candidates for President of the United States just don’t get to say stuff like this and not expect to be called on it.
Trump seems to have alluded to NAFTA though as one of the problems. China building factories in Mexico (whether true or not, I’m not sure, but NAFTA was terrible for the middle class. There’s little doubt of that.) Would Mexico finance a wall to continue to allow goods to move through even if it restricted the flow of people? Don’t know. Maybe. Not willing to say definitely not.
1. ” “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best.”” One he’s right. It’s not doctors and engineers who violate the United States sovereignty. It’s difficult to categorize a person as a good person when their very first act is to break the law. Sure there are some people seeking political assylum, but there are procedures for that as well and ultimately WE, The United States, gets to decide who enters our country. Why would I want a President who’s going to outsource this job to Mexico? I have a friend who’s Guatemalan. Mexico does the same to… Read more »
I know a lot of very fine people who have escaped Mexico and are doing a lot to benefit this country. I’m pretty sure the American Indians would say Europe didnt send their best to this continent also.
You may know alot of fine Mexican folks who escaped, but how many of them snuck over the border and had out here illegally in relation to the sheer numbers who’ve done so?
You may want to talk to many of the inner city blacks who have been screaming “what about us?” You know, those black communities which are still struggling for jobs? How much $$ is thrown at immigration? How much money are illegals costing us? Like my wife has said “We came here legally, it’s not fair that they get a free pass.”
Gotta be honest, these are just more reasons for me to vote for him. The left needs a major kick in the butt to get them to sort their crap out and drop the identity politics, and I can’t think of a bigger blow to drive against them than making Trump president.
That my friend says more about you than it does the left.
I really think that was out of line, jw. That was a direct personal attack against none made toward you. I could say the the illiberal left, based on what I’ve seen, has a plan to shut down the first amendment, the cornerstone of our Constitution. You and I would argue vociferously. But they’ve already done it. You’re trying to shut down conversation right here. Let me point something out. The difference between a liberal and a conservative is not a difference in love of country or in a desire to make the world a better place. But the difference… Read more »
Mark, go through my articles. All of them. Point out to me where I’ve ever endorsed Clinton. You can fawn righteous indignation all you like. However, I unlike your candidate, stand by what I said. If you can look at all of what I put in this article, and all that Trump says like it, and that makes you want to vote for him more. It does indeed say more about you than the left. How exactly am I trying to shut down conversation Mark? Far from it, I welcome the debate because I know that will be the only… Read more »
Where in the world do you think it’s conservative that don’t like the 1st? From examples from the GMP? . That’s a laugher. This site is one step behind the huffington post as a liberal social club. There is not one article that would highlight that a conservative could be a good man too. Most blast conservatives for all the plunder in the world. I give you credit for having this conversation though.
I agree #NEVERTRUMP……Hillary would not be my first choice but at least she knows about governing. It would be /will be a disaster if Trump were to become POTUS. Good article J.W.! However I do believe the election was rigged ……Look what was done to Bernie Sanders who in my opinion was the best candidate running.
Don’t vote Trump but you don’t endorse Hillary? Are you asking people not to vote at all?
Well stated Mark … doesn’t appear that he understood your point though.
“But the difference rests in that a conservative will honor your right to post your views, without a lot of comment except debate.”
HAHAHA! Conservatives love to throw misogynistic, homophobic and racist insults around. I bet it’s because they want to debate!
Strangely enough, I’m with you in that what some of these articles are doing is reinforcing my vote for him.
