‘My Cousin Rachel’ A movie with a weak, messy plot
Rachel Weisz is a good actor. I liked her in The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. When she gets a good role, she really does shine. So when I heard about My Cousin Rachel, I thought it would be good. It was definitely not what I expected it to be. Here is what I thought of this movie.
You can read the plot for My Cousin Rachel here:
A young Englishman (Sam Claflin) seeks revenge against his beautiful cousin (Rachel Weisz), but soon finds himself falling under the spell of her mysterious charm.
My Cousin Rachel was not a good movie. The plot was an absolute mess. It is slow and most of the time pretty confusing. It wasn’t always clear what was going on, or even what kind of movie it is supposed to be. Once it ends it leaves audiences with more questions than answers, and that annoyed me. The film does have good sets and costumes and a location that is pretty breath taking. That is really the only good things I can say about this movie though. My Cousin Rachel gets 3/10. It really was a poorly made film. With a weak, confusing plot and a narrative that wasn’t that exciting it just isn’t a movie I would recommend seeing. Maybe some people will like it, but they will be few and far between.
My Cousin Rachel is out now. You can follow this film on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Hi Jay
As so often before ,the book is far better than the film.
Daphne du Maurier’s book is a good read, and well known.
Thanks for sharing Jay :).
