Our Kind of Traitor is a thriller that is missing the thrills and action which hurts this film greatly
When it is done right thrillers can be a lot of fun to watch. Yet it is a delicate equation to set up. There are different types of thriller films and audiences have many reasons to want to see any of them. If something is missing or lacking they will end up with a slow, painful to watch movie. I was able to get a review copy a while back for Our Kind of Traitor and here is what I thought of it.
Here is the plot for Our Kind of Traitor:
A money launderer (Stellan Skarsgård) for Russian gangsters asks a couple vacationing in Marrakech, Morocco, to deliver incriminating evidence to an MI6 agent (Damian Lewis).
I was thoroughly disappointed in Our Kind of Traitor. It has a good cast and a clever plot so it should have been great. Yet somehow for me this film was really slow and boring. When it first began I had no idea what it was even about. It took a good 45 minutes before it is explained what is going on, and sadly it takes a long time for everything to fall into place. Once it does there is little to see and even less going on. The ending made little sense, although it had a cool twist I kind of liked. Our Kind of Traitor gets 4/10. It was alright but nowhere near as good as I had hoped it would be. If there had been more action or maybe even just more for the characters to do this film would have been at least good. I am glad I was able to watch it but I wouldn’t watch it again nor would I recommend that people need to see it.
