About Joyce Marter
Joyce Marter is a psychotherapist and Founder of Urban Balance, a counseling practice with over 100 therapists working from eight locations in the Chicagoland area and one in St. Louis. She was selected by Crain's Chicago Business for there "40 Under40" List of 2010 and received the Distinguished Alumni Award from The Family Institute at Northwestern University in 2008. Marter currently serves at the Chair-Elect of the Midwest Region of the American Counseling Association, Past-President of the Illinois Counseling Association, and a two-term Past-President of the Illinois Mental Health Counselors Association She is a blogger for The Huffington Post and PsychCentral and currently has a book in development. Marter is a public speaker, trainer, and frequently contributes to media segments as a psychological expert.
