Mom I wasn’t making this up,
Everytime his belly was empty,
He would nibble on my breast,
Quench his thirst with my blood,
Crunch on my bones and made a snack out of my lungs.
I apologize but the part of me that loved you is gone.
He took it when you made a feast out of my heart.
I can’t stomach the fact that you couldn’t tell our bite marks were the same.
You saw the blood filling my mouth and told me to swallow.
How dare you say I was trying to ruin your happily ever after.
Mom, when you refused to acknowledge my scars I learned I could not depend on you to save me.
To anyone who’s ever been through this, I’m sorry.
I know that doesn’t help.
Sorry is slapping a band-aid on an open wound and expecting it to help with the healing, I understand.
I know that sometimes laying there and taking the bruises is easier than to battle.
I know that telling someone is to fight within itself.
It’s like being swallowed all over again, when someone refuses to help.
So I see you, and I believe you.The story goes one night my grandmother was restless,
Or heard the chewing.
When she caught him on top of me,
The sheets were bloody.
She almost cut him in half or called the police instead
When my mother showed up to the crime scene, she was in pieces.
I don’t know who she was crying for.
Me, the wolf or herself.”
