Sweep Away Hungry Ghosts is the wistful reverie of a young Asian man as he struggles to come to terms with his deceased father’s transvestitism. Imbued with themes of traditional Chinese filial piety, the film explores the shifting role of the parent and the uncomfortable space between sex and gender.
Zhang + Knight (directors) are an Asian, Female & LGBT directing duo from the UK. They began their career in music videos for which they won UKMVA’s Best New Director. Driven by striking visuals and metaphysical storytelling, they love to craft emotional and enigmatic worlds.
