Created by Peter Daou, a diehard Hillary Clinton fan who previously served on her campaign, Verrit markets itself as the “voice for the 65.8 million” people who supported the Democratic nominee for the presidency. When Clinton tweeted out a link to the site last Sunday, it crashed (though Daou alleges that was actually a highly sophisticated cyber attack). As for what Verrit does, no one is entirely sure. Daou writes that it’s a “much-deserved sanctuary” for “harassed and marginalized” Americans who backed Clinton. It features dozens of notecard-style “Verrits” with a “fact” and an authentication code for users to check for accuracy purposes and then perhaps share/use in political arguments. Some “Verrits” are undeniable, complete with statistics from government agencies or trusted media sources. Others, which include quotes and opinions presented as truth, are less reliable and have spurred countless joke “Verrits” on Twitter. Despite the eye rolls and generally poor reviews across the media landscape, users on Social who’ve tweeted @Verrit seem to like it just fine. Well, better than fine. It’s earned a 74 percent positive score on Social over the last seven days. –Alex Shultz

Trump is a slippery snake, a liar and a charlatan, and people were taken in by him, but Clinton is not blameless no matter how hard she insists as such. Clinton needs to take responsibility for the dire campaign that she ran. She did not even attempt to address people’s very real fears over employment and job stability. She thinks that “misogyny” drove the election while ignoring that Jill Stein gained an unprecedented number of votes for her Green Party. She represents the end of what we in the UK call Champagne Socialism. Not before time.
