For Wilkine Brutus, Donald Sterling’s racist comments reminded him that he does and will continue to exist in a wide shadow.
—
You can pull your fu*kin’ pants up, have a clean shaved head, wear an expensive suit, be a family man, and be a productive member of our American society…you can do all of that plus more, but you will never be American; you will never be truly human. You will exist, perpetually, in a wide shadow.
You are invisible. And your labor is the only valuable asset, not you or your wellbeing.
And although you’re accepted in some circles, and you have close mutual friendships with those of lighter complexions; of a different ancestry, you can’t log off from a frozen system that controls your destiny, and wants you to self destruct instead of it.
Thanks for reminding me of this Donald Sterling.
Here is my 6 minute video response to high light at least one answer to the perceived insignificance of people of color.
