Sometimes, comments from readers can drive us … well, a little crazy. But sometimes, a comment brightens your whole day, as this one did for Michael Kasdan.

Wow! How insightful?! I love this! This is by far the best collection of works on common mental illnesses/conditions, and the surrounding beliefs and stigma that come with them. I’m a physician, and a mother who is raising 2 wonderful boys with special needs, and differently functioning brains. As you so eloquently reported, these conditions have significant challenges, but there are also unbelievable gifts and wonders perfectly intertwined with the crazy. Not all crazy is bad…conversely not all traditional/conventional is good.
My children have thought me many lessons that are indelible, and have made me a better human being. I am always interested in finding ways to properly stimulate my son with ADHD, and socially engage my son with Autism. Articles like yours give me insights to growing my relationship with my boys, and enthusiasm for a better society…a society that can appreciate the whole person, and not the label they’ve been assigned. I thank you! Your work is very much appreciated. Peace and blessings to you.
