Electricity Kills…
But younger workers may not always be aware of the dangers of working around electricity. And unfortunately, their employers may not care enough to take the time to train them properly and make their safety a top priority. Sadly, this is exactly what happened to Tim Hamilton and Jeremy Bowley.
Please take 2 minutes and watch this powerful safety video about the easily preventable deaths of Tim, 19, and Jeremy, 21. Tim and Jeremy died fourteen years apart while working at their respective summer jobs…but due to the EXACT same circumstances.
This is unacceptable. And yet it happened.
If you are on social media, or have a young worker in your life, please share this video. You just never know who might need to see this important message. We can’t bring Tim or Jeremy back. But by sharing their stories, we can help prevent similar future tragedies.
Because a summer job should never be a person’s last job.

About the John Petropoulos Memorial Fund
Const. John Petropoulos passed away in the line of duty on Sept. 29, 2000. John was investigating a break and enter complaint when he stepped through a false ceiling, fell nine feet into the lunchroom below and died of a head injury. There was no safety railing to warn him—or anyone else—of the danger. It ended up there was no suspect in the building; it was a false alarm. John was 32.
After his death, several of his recruit classmates set up the John Petropoulos Memorial Fund (JPMF) and raised monies through the sale of memorial pins. More than two decades later, the JPMF is still going strong, raising public awareness about how and why people can make their workplaces & the roads safer for everyone, including first responders.
Because everyone has the right to make it home safely from work.
