Award-winning slam-poet and social justice Guante, who has brought us such hits like “10 Responses to the Phrase Man Up” again tackles language—here under the guise of a beat cop talking about political correctness.
Guante says bout this video: “It’s about reframing the idea of “political correctness” to be less about censorship and more about choosing to not use needlessly hurtful language. It’s a conversation I’ve had a million times.” It is a direct response to every internet troll, conservative uncle at the dinner table, and faux-edgy media personality. To Guante, the people who use language with the desire to be thoughtful are fine even when they mess up. It’s people who use language deliberately to provoke who are problematic. But there is a solution: “If you want to push people’s buttons: talk about the prison industrial complex, talk about the foreclosure crisis, talk about police brutality. These things will push people outside of their comfort zones more than saying naughty words ever could.”
See if you agree.

In other words its ok to push people’s buttons by being left-wing but its not ok to offend people by being right wing. So all political correctness really is, is a way of applying left-wing morality to all speech. Wait did I just offend someone?

Nice in theory, as long as you’re only choosing for yourself. As soon as you start imposing your choices on others, it’s censorship.
Watch it Steven. You’re very close here. You don’t sound like you’re the right political persuasion to be using the C-word.
Why is he wearing a stocking cap? Is this some kind of style thing, or is the heat just turned down in that building?
Are you retarded?
I’m sorry. Is that not a stocking cap? And I think the phrase is intellectually disabled.
