I was hanging around nursing a foul mood the other night. Something was troubling me, and I couldn’t shake this ugly feeling hanging over me, so I got on the floor and started playing with my pup. That should be Life Hack #1: When feeling down, play with puppy. Its impossible not to smile and feel uplifted around a playful dog. His joyful exuberance is contagious, rubbing off on me as he wags his tail, smiles, and climbs all over me. At one point, just to feel some relief from my angst, I started hugging him. To my surprise, I perceived a bright, soothing white light coming from Jon Snow. It felt light, joyful, and innocent. Let’s call it the Puppy Light. In that moment I needed it more than anything, so I closed my eyes and imagined I could breathe it into my heart. I took several deep breaths and drew that white puppy light into my own heart. Each breath soothed me more and more deeply until I was no longer buried under my own dark thoughts.
Here’s the good news: you can do this with anything or anybody, even if you don’t have a Magic Puppy like Jon Snow. You can choose your child, or your mother, or your partner. You can choose a tree or a kitty or a friend. Just follow these simple instructions:
* Take your arms, hold them out and embrace the source of your loving joy.
* Draw them close enough that you can feel them against your chest.
* If you can perceive their light (energy) inhale fully until your belly is full, imagining the light going into your heart. Take several deep breaths of this light until your heart is bathing in it.
* Exhale out our pain, or if you mostly feel gratitude, send that to the source with your breathe.
* Repeat at will.
May the Puppy Light be with you.

“Here’s the thing about The Good Men Project. We are trying to create big, sweeping, societal changes—–overturn stereotypes, eliminate racism, sexism, homophobia, be a positive force for good for things like education reform and the environment. And we’re also giving individuals the tools they need to make individual change—-with their own relationships, with the way they parent, with their ability to be more conscious, more mindful, and more insightful. For some people, that could get overwhelming. But for those of us here at The Good Men Project, it is not overwhelming. It is simply something we do—–every day. We do it with teamwork, with compassion, with an understanding of systems and how they work, and with shared insights from a diversity of viewpoints.” —– Lisa Hickey, Publisher of The Good Men Project and CEO of Good Men Media Inc.
