You got Black Americans, such as Stephon Clark, being murdered in their own yards because police thought he had a gun. Yet, White Americans, such as Kyle Rittenhouse, can go to a protest at 17-years old armed with an AR-15 to “protect” businesses and walk past cops and make it home in time to take a shower before bed.
You even have conservatives supporting this behavior. Republicans are raising money for Kyle Rittenhouse’s defense. He wouldn’t need to plead self-defense if he wasn’t going out and trying to play policeman at 17-years old. Anybody who doesn’t see the inequality when comparing this situation to how Black Americans are treated by police is probably either racist or mentally incompetent.
. . .
Kyle Rittenhouse Was in Search of a Fight
Kyle Rittenhouse went to Wenosha in search of a fight. In this dominant white culture of America, it is common to suggest self-defense automatically. Yet, what about Breonna Taylor’s boyfriend shooting at the police who appeared to be breaking into their home? Why weren’t these same people jumping and saying self-defense in this situation?
Civil rights attorney Jason Flores-Williams has some comments on this situation. He stated that because Kyle Rittenhouse is white, that is why they suggest it is self-defense immediately without even considering what lead up to the events that happened. For example, when Black Americans are in similar situations, they are viewed as “”part of the violent problem and then all animals.”
When it comes to self-defense:
“There is no other area of law in the United States that is more informed by society, social views, the context of racism, who a person is, being able to empathize with that person, being able to understand that person has that person has an interior life and emotions and can experience trauma.” —Attorney Jason Flores-Williams
Kyle Rittenhouse got in his car as a 17-year old child and broke the law by driving across state lines to a protest while being armed with an AR-15. It is premeditated. He went to “protect” businesses and the streets. That’s not your job dude. Businesses have insurance. There are also cops. People are allowed to protest. Most of the time, it is the police and corrupt militias that start the riots. I’m not buying what he’s selling. This was clearly a narrative he was either told to fulfill or trying to fulfill on his own.
Also, I want to point out the fact that all of you White people (and others) going around saying “they shouldn’t be rioting” etc. etc.. Take a second and think about this: what would you do if you were treated the way Black Americans have been treated in America for years upon years? After they have already been peacefully protesting for their rights for years upon years… What would you do? You don’t have to worry about facing what they face, being told sorry, and then having it happen again. In my humble opinion, they have every damn right to riot. I would riot too if I was treated the way they are treated in America.
Instead of protecting child-wannabe-warriors like Kyle Rittenhouse, why not help Black Americans and other people of color get the equality that they DESERVE and are ENTITLED to.
Like Wisconsin’s Lt. Governor Barnes said:
“What do you think is going to happen if you have an agitated man with a long gun walking down the streets thinking that he’s some sort of peacekeeper?”
. . .
I’m telling you if this was a Black man or a Hispanic man, the situation would be completely different. The police would have shot him dead. Or the Republicans would be screaming to kill him or lock him up. Kyle Rittenhouse made it home safely that night after murdering two people.
It doesn’t matter if they attacked him. He went to a protest with an AR-15. He had no business being at that protest because he doesn’t believe in the cause. He isn’t a police officer. The people were simply trying to get the gun away from this child who obviously has mental health issues and fantasies about being some hero and protector of the white race.
America doesn’t need a white supremacist vigilante walking around trying to protect a damn thing. We need social change. We need to end systematic racism. We need to police our police. We need to police our people. We need to police ourselves. Don’t make excuses for people like this. He should be locked up because he put himself in a situation where he murdered two people. Those two people clearly just didn’t want some child vigilante walking around a protest with an AR-15. I would feel the same way. Those two people would be alive if Kyle hadn’t gone looking for trouble.
I am sorry, but no matter how you look at this, Kyle Rittenhouse is not a victim in this situation. He wouldn’t had to defend himself if he wasn’t walking around a protest, armed with an AR-15, trying to tell people they need to go home. The protest was peaceful. The militia groups turned it into more. As they have done the entire time.
There’s no reason Cops should allow a 17-year old White teenager to walk around a protest that doesn’t have a damn thing to do with him with a loaded AR-15. THE COPS ARE ALREADY THERE. If he was black, he would have been shot 7 times in the back before he even got into the car to drive to Wenosha. Why is it that Kyle Rittenhouse can walk around a protest for racial equality with a loaded AR-15 without a second thought from police… yet Jacob Blake was shot 7 times in the back because there was the possibility he was going for a knife that may or may not exist. Hmm?
Because our system is racist. Our police discriminate. That’s a fact. And Donald Trump FEEDS off of own country becoming more and more divided. He sees it as a political opportunity. He continues to blame it on Democrats. Trump claims that our streets will be lawless and worse in “Joe Biden’s America.” Look at America with Donald Trump as president.
The crazy part is this is Trump’s America right now. Nothing is getting better. It gets worse every single day because Trump won’t even acknowledge that racial inequality is a problem in America. The sooner we get this man out of office, the sooner we can make real progress. Right now we have a president who supports white supremacists and racist militias. It’s time to end that. It’s time for America to stop being consumed by hate.
It’s clear as day. I am not fooled by people who believe their skin color makes them better than others. It’s disgusting and I won’t keep my mouth shut about it. A huge percent of my own race disgusts me because of the way they view themselves as superior and because of how they view and treat others based on their skin color.
We are all human. It would do you well to remember that and practice some empathy. Stop being entitled. Stop thinking people who know what they are doing like Kyle Rittenhouse (who clearly fulfilled the narrative of making his killings look justified) be defended for their hateful actions.
In America, real heroes like Colin Kaepernick are condemned, while white supremacist vigilantes like Kyle Rittenhouse are made out to be victims and heroes by conservatives.
But according to some people, America doesn’t have systematic racism…
I bet Kalief Browder would have loved to be in juvenile detention like Kyle Rittenhouse instead of Riker’s Island for a crime he didn’t even commit.
